CELESTE STOP THIS FLAME

First off, it's important to mention that this artist is one of the most quintessential examples of London talent at present. Though she was born in the states, she's an English rose blending husky London soul that hints Winehouse, with a unique graceful inflection. Celeste's debut album combines singles and her Lately EP and features collaborators Gotts Street Park - an indie soul project (on a couple of tracks) and rap talent Jeshi on another. Just landed is a new single called 'Stop This Flame' - an upbeat song, with a little more sass than her typical brand of slower, breezy soul. Two repetitive, lusty piano chords persist throughout the song over the various chords changes, driving it forward. The vocal melodies are heavily blues inspired and move with a rhythmic awareness, strength and vitality alongside the bass guitar. The production is perhaps Celeste's poppiest yet as a result of the emotive pads, monotonous drum beat and catchy vocal hook in the chorus. Celeste is headed for grander things, firstly with this tune, and then with a sold out headline show at Shepherd's Bush Empire on 29th April amongst others in her upcoming UK tour. -Ellie Rose-Davies
